Components for powerpacks
Lantern pieces
A lantern piece, also known as a bell housing, pump carrier, or pump seat, connects the electric motor or combustion engine to a hydraulic pump. Because there are many different pumps and motors that can be used, Oudshoorn Hydraulics has a wide range of lantern pieces available from stock. Lantern pieces with diameters ranging from 105 to 660 mm are always available directly from stock.
Drive couplings
Drive couplings are often used to drive the pump with an electric motor. Oudshoorn Hydraulics therefore has a wide range of couplings available from stock. Aluminum drive couplings are often used in installations with limited power transmission. Steel drive couplings are used for higher power ratings. Oudshoorn Hydraulics always has drive couplings for power ratings from 0.18 kW to 110 kW available from stock.
Electric motors
Many hydraulic systems are driven by an electric motor. We have a very complete range of electric motors. Electric motors are available from stock. We can supply you with the following motors, among others: DC motors, 12, 24, and 48 volts up to 10,000 watts, single-phase AC motors, 230 VAC up to 3.0 kW, three-phase AC motors, 400/690 VAC up to 315 kW
Level switches
Level switches: protection against oil shortages! You can use Oudshoorn Hydraulics level switches to protect your system against low oil levels. These level switches are available in various lengths and can easily be changed from one contact type to another. If you want to change a make contact to a break contact (or vice versa), simply mount the switch float upside down on the level switch tube. We have various models available, with flange or threaded mounting.
Oil reservoirs
Oudshoorn Hydraulics has a wide range of oil tanks available from stock. Our range is made from various materials, such as: Aluminum oil reservoirs Steel oil reservoirs Plastic oil reservoirs Stainless steel oil reservoirs. Choosing the right oil reservoir is an important step towards a reliable hydraulic system. When choosing an oil system, pay close attention to the following points, among others: How much capacity is needed to store the oil required to feed the pump and users? Another point that is just as important is the cooling capacity of an oil reservoir. During prolonged circulation, the oil can heat up considerably. To cool the heated oil, it is preferable to choose an oil reservoir with a capacity of 3 to 5 times the pump output per minute. (However, this is a rule of thumb; in practice, different decisions may be made under various circumstances.) Oudshoorn Hydraulics also offers the option of oil tanks with a drip tray, which can be manufactured entirely according to the customer's wishes and specifications.
Sight glasses and sight gauges
Optical indicators are often used in hydraulic systems to determine the oil level quickly and easily. A major advantage of a sight glass or sight gauge is that no electricity is required and the oil level can be seen immediately. Oudshoorn Hydraulics has various sight glasses and sight gauges available from stock, such as: Plastic sight glasses Aluminum sight glasses Sight glasses specially suitable for fuels Sight gauges in various lengths Sight gauges combined with a temperature gauge Sight gauges combined with a level switch.
Temperature switches
Heat often builds up in hydraulic systems. When the oil temperature gets too high, you can use a temperature switch to turn on a fan on an oil cooler, for example, to prevent the oil temperature from rising too high. Oudshoorn Hydraulics has various temperature switches and sensors in its range.
Filler caps
Oudshoorn Hydraulics has a wide range of filler caps available from stock. There are many different types that are used, and the following versions are available from stock. Steel filler caps with flange or weld collar. Plastic filler caps Lockable filler caps Filler caps with strainer Filler caps with dipstick
